We killed Archimonde last night. It went pretty nicely once we dropped 2 people. Huurrrr DPS.

It’s an MMO. Blizzard has taken the usual abbreviation for World of Warcraft and changed to ATM officially today, according to a press release:
How do the Loot cards work?Loot cards are special versions of cards in booster packs, starter decks and raid decks that have a unique code. When you enter this code into the website, you will get a unique in-game item for the World of Warcraft MMORPG.
The rewards for these cards will guarantee that for at least this year, the WoW TCG will match Magic: The Gathering as a game system. This is insane, Blizzard may have well gotten a license from the Federal Mint to print their own cash. Hell, I’m even tempted even if just for the turtle mount… Or maybe the Hippogryph… See?
You ever had one of those instants where you’re looking around for the moron? Lemme give you a hint: If you can’t see him, hold up a mirror. Six months ago, I highlighted the exact problem to a friend of mine. Since I chose to get caught up in it, now it looks like he’s an ex-friend. Congratulations to me. Social gaming FTL.
The next couple of days, as I play (if I play) in complete silence, will hopefully break me.
I have a draft of a nice long post, and all I keep thinking about is running my own guild. It’s a fucking stupid idea honestly for the following reasons:
1) I can’t dedicate the time to be hardcore no matter how much I want to be.
2) I hate people. Seriously. People are retarded. Not the best idea for a GL when you hate everyone. Unless they have the same goal as me, in which case I can live with them.
For the Burning Crusade, a good guild size will be about 35-40 people tops. Not to many backups, but enough to fill in the raid when a regular takes a break/has RL issues. I want to be in that dedicated guild with 4-7 nights of raiding a week, bleeding gold on the hard fights for server firsts. More thoughts on that in the other post (it’s coming), but I want 25 people that feel the same way with some casuals that can fill in. Maybe I can practice being nice over the next couple of months…
Yuck, first day back at work from a break, gotta hate those. I spent four days hanging out with Otter, playing WoW (fighting the gd computer), watching Lost, and playing Zelda.
The slow improvement continues. My big goal for the four days was to get to artisan (225+) cooking with Eliz. Made it to 225, now I just need to do the quest and get the crap out of my bank to cook up. The marginal upgrades continued with two BRD runs netting
My UBRS run also ended badly with four tries at Drakk. I did get
In other news, Lost is actually a pretty good show. Otter and I had seen Episode 9 in Season 2 and could hardly makes head or tails of what was going on, but seeing everything straight through is the way to go. Now it all makes sense.
For episodic stuff like that and 24, I think seeing the entire season at once is the way to go. The only danger is that you know you have the next episode just waiting to go, and you can’t stop watching until really late at night.
How good is Zelda? Let’s just say, when I started it up and Otter heard the music going, she actually tore the controller out of my hands and played. Granted, it was only 10 minutes but it made this geek very happy.
Her main problem with Wind Waker is that “there isn’t enough fighting.” That’s my girl!
Gogo
In other news, I just approved my first spam post. At least, I think it’s spam… Ah well, I’ll support the 49ers anyways possible even if I am looking at another long season of bottom dwelling.
I also figured out what the (current) problem with my laptop is. It’s overheating again. I know, I know, big surprise when outside it’s 115+ and the air conditioning brings the temperature inside doewn to a frosty 80ish. Then, take a beast of a laptop, sprinkle some fan problems on top, and you have nice recipie for pieces of the motherboard to fry themselves and/or separate at high temperatures. I am seriously considering going back to a desktop when I get back to the States. Pros: Much easier to upgrade and care for. Cheaper. Bigger screen drool Cons: No portability (“Uru, come watch TV with me!!” is a lot easier to do with a laptop.) It’s another piece of hardware in a room already full of electronic toys.
So the new theme is in progress. I have a new picture coming for Naye since she uses IE, and IE apparently hates .png files. A little push down on the Recent Comments box is coming as well. Overall, I think I am happy with the theme. I just to finalize some details, like what is in the sidebar and how comments are displayed and then I’ll release it.
Meanwhile, my stupid laptop is having a lot of issues. I think it is due to Intervideo’s WinDVD 6.0 since I am getting the BSoD with “IRQL_Conflict.” The only time I ever have a crash is when the stupid media manager is running, so if I can get it to boot past agp440.sys, it’s getting uninstalled ASAP.
On the good side, I got a metric asston of WoW this weekend. I took yesterday off, and snuck into the MC raid with Majer. I have pictures of my lag, but overall it was a nonfactor as I went through Sulfuron Harbringer onwards. No happy loots for him though. Immediately afterwards, Elizabet MTed Scholo and did the whole thing except for Jandice. No
I persevered through lag and odd playtimes and no groups to accomplish my goal: Elizabet is 60.
Ok, that doesn’t really mean shit since I could have had her at 60 about three weeks ago. Or the fact that it’s number 4 to cap out. And woopie for me, accomplishing something 5 million other people have. WTFE. At least I got to equip
Meanwhile, other people get to play Majer
Let’s just say a Mage is not the chartacter to be playing when trying to grind
Oh yeah, I have a site redesign in progress. (Which means, in typical fashion, I have this gorgeous vision in my head without the fscking l33t skilz to get out in code.) All seven of ya can look for it next week. (Edit: stupid white items on a white background
)
9 months in Morgantis ended with a hunger to see more and do more, go farther and push harder. I joined Silence to test my abilities, see what I had accomplished in the 9 months I had played and to raid. A year later, I log to see my best friends. The loot and the prestige doesn’t really make up for the crap I go through, but Cruzor, Dis, Grimmy Wimmy Dearest of Gnomiepies, and Moon (amongst a others not of the Silence persuasion ;)) do. I’d have gone nuts this year without them, and I don’t know what I will do without them when this all comes to an end.
So, I just want to dedicate this to them, because they love it when I get excited, they are never too grumpy/cranky to laugh with or at me, and they always try to (and usually do) turn my frown upside-down, they encourage, and suggest, and push me to go to places I wouldn’t go on my own, and make the journey with me: they make me think maybe, just maybe, someday I won’t have to ‘log on’ to be with my best friend.
Here is to my friends, who’ve seen me at my bitchiest and love me anyway.
Someone once told me “You’re perfect to me because you aren’t perfect.” muy impactante. With all my uberness AND shortcomings I am accepted. And I didn’t do anything but be my neeky self.
While I’m off working on the weeknds, all kinds of cool stuff happens.
First, AFN got the rights to broadcast the remaining World Cup games. That meant I got to watch last night’s 1-1 draw with Italy live. Awesome! I got to chat with lilbro (Bolivia) from Iraq while watching a game in Germany. Small world or what?
Anways, the game itself. Overall, much better from a technical point of view for the US team. We had some brilliant ball movement, and maintained control of things even after our second(!!!) red card. The ref needs to be taken out behind a woodshed and beaten. In the words of a paid writer, he “began pulling out his red card like he was a six-year-old showing his favorite Christmas gift.” Both of our red cards were on late tackles which still managed to get a piece of the ball and the cards absolute BS. The goal in the 26th minute by the Azzuri was a huge knife to the back, and all I could think was “oh no, not again.” Our guys came back strong, and I have no doubt that even with just one red card on us we would have won the game. Kasey Keller was unbeliveable in the goal. And, as icing on the cake, Ghana beat the Czech’s 2-0. This puts us in a decent spot for moving on in that we know Ghana is dangerous, so no surprises there. The big question is whether or not Italy can muster enough to actually win the game against the Czechs as they are through to the second round with a win or a tie. We need a win against Ghana and a win by Italy over Czech Repulic to squeek through again with 4 points (It would be Italy (7 pts), US (4 pts), Czechs (3 pts), Ghana (3 pts) as final standings.)
Meanwhile, people are saying “As soon as Uruloki leaves…” At least, that’s how I feel sometimes.
The guys back home in WoW had their first kill of Razorgore last night. Since I wasn’t there, he chose to drop clothie gear:
Congratulations to everyone that was there and saw him go down!
