Who are you?

From the WoW forums comes a list of raiding personalities:

Having been a part of several different raid groups, I’ve begun to notice patterns regarding the type of people that make up a raid. It seems to me that a lot of the same types of people inhabit 40-man raids. Here’s my list of the general charactes I’ve observed and some basic info about them:

NOTE: Most of these are NOT mine, although I have at one point or another seen all of them.

The Average Raider
Chances are you fit into this category. He talks on Vent when needed, is fairly adaptive to the instance, pays decent attention, fufills his class role adequately, and doesn’t cause too many problems.

I fall into the He of 1000 Alts and The Answer Guy categories…

From the cache of Google:

It’s time to drop out of school, quit your job, divorce your spouse, disown your children, cancel your gym membership, upgrade your PC, and clear out your schedule for World of Starcraft. Hot on the heels of the unprecedented success of its first massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Blizzard Entertainment is taking its other best-known real-time strategy brand and doing it up proper. We’ve only caught a glimpse of a work-in-progress version of World of Starcraft so details are scarce at this time, but we’re already prepared to lay all our credibility and all your trust in us on the line by predicting that this will surely end up being GameSpot’s 2007 Game of the Year when it finally comes out, assuming it doesn’t get delayed. After all, when you take World of Warcraft; replace the “Warcraft” with “Starcraft;” fix a whole bunch of World of Warcraft’s problems; introduce a whole new set of mechanics and gameplay features; and throw in stim packs, psionic storms, and devourers, you obviously have a completely different and even better game.

I am sooo in love…

WTFE

You know something is wrong when the SO calls up from Undisclosed_Location_534 and you manage to convey the boredom of your life in two sentences. Such was last night.

I’d have taken screenshots of the people coming and leaving in 5 minutes all night as Kalimdor bounced up and down like $2 whore, but we were too busy in Vent making fun of the guys that were too stupid find the nearest Mage for a UC Teleport. Oh yeah, we ran the Baron in 43 minutes. I actually think that Blizz didn’t screw that up at all, although for some reason the “casuals” are going to be about 4 months behind us like normal.

In other news, go read Something*Positive, Zap, and StripTease. I’ve read them all. The first and the third only emphasize to me that if you want make sex public, know how to draw and slap a punchline on the end. I’d say that the main characters are roughly equivalent to me in terms of nooky-needing, but I’d be lying. They’re pikers.

Sliced Bread?

Finally, one of the things that players will really appreciate is going to be implemented in the game:

We’re pleased to announce that the keyring functionality has been completed and will be in place for patch 1.11. When a player first acquires a key, they will automatically acquire a keyring that will hold permanent dungeon keys. The size of this keyring will increase as the player goes up in level—as seen below.

Level 1-40 = 4 slots
Level 41-50 = 8 slots
Level 51-60 = 12 slots

Finally, I don’t have to remember to bring the damn

WOWITEM:

    The Scarlet Key

into a Live Strat run and then have to switch it out for my
WOWITEM:

    Key to the City

. Key rings >>> sliced bread, IMO.

Killing makes more

Just as a question to the Dalai Lama’s comment that killing Bin Laden will make 10 more: does this apply for every one? I mean, theoretically, if I kill the Dalai Lama, then 10 more Dalai Lama’s pop up, right? I do believe that that is a proof of the idea that killing people does bring peace!

Life goes on

So, not a whole lot to report on any front. Otter is off to play in the sandbox for the next month without me, and then I get to head over. In the meantime, I get to pack up the house and play WoW until very disgusting things happen.

Case in point: yesterday. Just logged on after 3 hours of sleep (ZG raids tend to keep you up for a long time when you are on opposite coast servers) to do some auction checking and set up for later. End up yanking the latest alt through RFC twice, WC once, and a live Strat run. Took a shower and then went to bed. The good thing was that I got to play with Jayd for a bit, it’ll be a couple of days but then the alt will catch up to and pass her probably.

So, life continues/goes on/keeps rolling/whatever.

Fuck upgrades

Let’s see, today was patch day. This of course means that NOTHING WORKS. we start off by looking at this for a while:

Authenticating....

Which of course leads to this:

No connection for you!

Of course, while you are waiting (if you haven’t Alt-Tabbed), you can read that Blizzard is now taking over for Microsoft as champion of wasted testing opportunities and quality control.

Moving On

So, I lost a friend last night. Over a friggin macro. Silly boys can’t use logic in conjunction with memory (or either one alone!). Oh well. Obviously since he left me the first time… and the second time… and decided I was exactly like someone else; I shouldn’t be surprised. I’m not really. He likes to leave people before they leave him. Well, I guess he got what he wanted. I wasn’t going to let him out easy though. I needed it to be over so I can stop wondering and torturing myself.

“We’re done.” wow, it was still like being punched in the gut. But I needed it. He’s hurt me enough already, and this was the last time, so I’m ok with that. :) I almost cried though, I’m so chickly! hehe. It’s ok, I’m ok. I knew his words were completely contradictory to his actions and still I gave him the second and third chance. I once asked him what he wanted from me and he told me he wanted “friendship, understanding, compassion, trust, and enjoyment.” I reminded him of that when I was asking him to decide how it would go, and his answer was: “I want you to forget me lol” hehe! As though I could. :) I usually give him everything he wants, but I can’t this time. I don’t even want to, and I don’t need to; it won’t make a difference to him b/c he won’t know whether I have or not. He meant a lot to me, and we had a lot more good times than bad. :) I will always have the memories I thought I shared. And I can look back and smile at them without thinking about our craptastic ending lol. :) I am satisfied. Odly enough… the song “since You’ve Been Gone fits this situation very appropriately. :)

He’s not the first friend I have had to let go of completely, and he probably won’t be the last, but that’s ok. I’m learning to let go. Sometimes in the end you can still call them if you are in dire (we are talking desperate) need of a protector, this isn’t one of those times, but that’s ok. Not all of them will be.

I don’t think I ‘deserve’ it, but I did choose it. I choose who has power over me and I am learning to not let anyone have that power. Someday someone won’t abuse my trust, my affection, and my friendship. Someday, I will be valued as I ought to be. Until that day, I have to be careful.

Sometimes: I’m silly, but sometimesthe vast majority of the time: guys are just idiots. hehe. You know it’s true, and I know it’s true. :)

Onward with year 2 of “F Jayd”! It’ll get better, so they tell me. lol :)

Back

Ok, probably not really, but it’s nice to pretend. I’ve been off whoring and drinking in Mexico, which is a big change from all the drinking and whoring that I do in the local area. And by the previous sentence, I mean that Otter dragged me off for two weeks of vacation. Our accomodations, being a giant ship, naturally provided absolutely no means for me to log on with paying a kidney and possibly a teste. Fear not, for I am a dedicated gamer.

I, being the giant asshole that I am, brought along my nice new DVD copy of Fable: The Lost Chapters. I didn’t play for the first couple of days, but finally the twitching got to Otter so she allowed me to play. So, I guess what follows is my review.

Fable is a cool idea. I love being able to see the progression of my character as he becomes more evil (like it was a question). The biggest issue I have with it probably stems from the fact that I play Blizzard games. Everything in a Blizz game is targeted when you click on it. Fable uses a “look” system that targets stuff that is directly in the center of the camera. The mouse controls the camera, with click performing actions. So, where I’m used to moving to an object with the cursor and going from there, everytime I move the mouse in Fable I end up looking behind me. Oops. Not to mention the fact when you have a bunch of things in your view, it can be hard to target whatever you really want. As an example, there are a lot of escort quests, where you have two or three guys to give directions to. I’ve told the same guy to “wait” then “follow” repeatedly when all I want is all the idiots to wait. And even when they are waiting, they like to wander around so that they follow you as you try to pull the other idiot away a little bit to tell him to wait too. Frustrating.

But, overall I think it is a pretty cool game. I’m headed down the path of “Spellwarrior” right now since I got some pretty impressive AE spells and a nice big axe to finish everyone else off with. I probably won’t play more until April, when I lose internet access again. It’s going to be a pleasant diversion though when I do get back to it.

From the Feathermoon forums:

My girlfriend left me for someone she met on this server.

Which one of you %^&(&*s was it?

Ahhhh, true love….
