Unintentionally funny

Back into the mud

Otter likes to run and watch GMA as the start to her day. The discussion today was on Sarah Palin as a VP pick for McCain and some of the Obama responses to her selection. “Inexperience” and “cynical political ploy” were gist of the discussion from what I heard. This brought up a connection in my mind that I haven’t seen anywhere else that is really relevant since Obama says Bush is really McCain’s running mate:

Obama looks a lot like George Bush right now. In order to overcome a derth of experience at the national level, he selected an old Washington hand (Biden, Cheney) to take care of that. Given how well Cheney has worked out in being too active in the government, isn’t a neophyte in the VP slot a better choice? Hell, Bush at least had some executive experience which is what Palin has as a previous mayor and governor in Alaska. No one else on either ticket can say that.

I think this election season is going to be very interesting. :)

E: Dang it, other people are smarter than me. Of course, the author also points out a lot more points of congruence between Obama and Bush. Agent of More of the Same, here we come!

This is why you keep the bar low

When Season 4 started in July, I knew there were a few things that I would probably never get such as the

WOWITEM:

    Brutal Gladiator’s Kodohide Helm

. I included some of the honor stuff in that list like
WOWITEM:

    Guardian’s Kodohide Bracers

since I had never even sniffed a 1575 rating. Well, I did manage a 1600 rating, and promptly got my new honor bracers.

After the raid tonight, I looked at the bracer upgrades I could find on Wowhead using the weighting system. The PVP bracers with epic gems come out ahead of my

WOWITEM:

    Grove-Bands of Remulos

, so I went ahead and grabbed 20 WSG tokens out of my bank, rushed into Org, and bought the PVP bracers. I didn’t realize what I had done until I went back to the bank to gem and enchant them, followed by grabbing all the other PVP gear in preparation for a quick BG daily. The very last piece I grab out of my bank is the pair that I already had, gemmed and enchanted. headdesk I’d completely forgotten them.

The lesson for today is that you should never be good enough to be in that position. Or maybe it’s to double-check before you jump. I’ve never been good with lessons…

Peeking out of the closet

Otter and I were on one of our rare window-shopping expeditions to the mall when I noticed the Kryptonite for my particular penny-saver: Bath and Body Works. Fortunately, she’s only really interested in their goods when they are on sale, which is unfortunately all the damn time. This particular trip the store was already out of all her favorite scents and such so she walked out empty handed. I on the other hand ended up with four items. Sure, I can claim they were all guy items (Mentha Wash!) and on sale, but the fact remains that I got stuff at Bath and Body Works and she didn’t.

Couple that with the fact that my favorite item from WotLK(Wrath of the Lich King) is the fact that pets and mounts go in your skill book, and I may be peeking out of the closet.

Players will be able to “learn” a mount or non-combat pet much like learning a spell, recipe, or new ability, and these creatures will then show up on a new Pet tab within the Character Info section of the interface. Players will be able to access and preview their learned mounts and vanity pets through this tab.

The Week in Wins

Ok, well, yes, it is only Friday… Lets face it people my life is not win, so Thursday was pretty spectacular.

1. The pipes froze on the roof! “How is that ‘win’?” you may ask, well let me tell you. For 3 weeks my AC pipes have been freezing and Jesse (yeah i know) the maintenance dude hasn’t been able to find the problem… SO today super awesome pipe fixer man from a super awesome pipe fixing company knocked on my door and fixed my pipes! AND it only took him 5 minutes to find the problem and fix it… /boggle No more freezing! Yay! Thank you super awesome pipe fixer man! Bonus: he was pretty cute. OR I just don’t see many hot guys anymore. :(

2. Master Darin remembers me especially and calls me “Jayd Warrior.” Pretty neat imo. At least punching that dude in the face was memorable to others as well. :)

3. Wall-E = win. Yay for midnight showings!! That was actually the most ppl I have seen in a theater since Honduras. It was so packed I had to sit between 2 random people. Oo I know. I almost felt like I went with people! Until I got out, then yeah. But the movie was hilarious, worth paying full price if you have too! Go see it. :) IF you see it Friday let me know and I will get you an exclusive CAST only Wall-E Opening Day pin. :)

And that was my week in wins.

Oh, one other pretty uber thing did happen. (4 in one week, I know, positively shocking!) Tuesday I got home early and spotted the mail man. So I stalked him until he got to my mail box and had him give me my mail from the mail man side since our landbitches won’t give me the friggin’ key to our mail box. I got mail, and that is win too. :)

Butter : Why I wish I had some

As it turns out, Imperial is not butter. :( I do not wish to go back to the store, soooo I will look like I was attacked by a large heathen tomorrow. I can say however my virtue is still intact and his eye will be black and blue… and he only bled a little.

So, I’m going to Discovery Church here in Orlando, Melson (the former Melton) and Robbie hooked me up here and I was thinking I wanted to join a bible study or small group, anything really to get out and meet people. None of them looked appealing though until I hit “Kung Fu.” Yes, you heard it, my small group is Kung freaking Fu. Win. Anyways, it’s on Thursdays at 7:15pm, cool right? Well, I just got a job working for The Mouse and it’s full time so I don’t know what hours I will have for free time until Tuesday sadly, so I might not be able to continue.

BUT at least I know the basics of defending myself and how to hurt someone REALLY badly… They didn’t really teach us how to hurt someone though, that was an added bonus since my partner got about as serious as I did. Everyone else was going all nice and slow, we were like lightning speed, fists were flying everywhere, round house kicks were being blocked, it was cool. Anyways, I didn’t mean to punch him in the face. No really, I didn’t.  I tried to aim(link) my punches over his shoulder to avoid doing said move. We basically would try to start slow, but then we would escalate to matrix speed and he blocked my right but wasn’t fast enough to block my left punch and he didn’t swerve as planned (he’s good at swerving, like a boxer or something), so I got him in the glasses (good thing b/c my ring is somewhat sharp) and the nose. Good news is, there was only a little blood, and his glasses didn’t break, bad news is he will have a nice shiner tomorrow.

Mind you, I did not escape unscathed. Why I wish I had butter: starting at my wrists and ending at my elbows I’m bruising from blocking punches and his roundhouse kicks, as well as my right shin from my round house being blocked. Oddly enough my sides (where he repeatedly punched me, I hope he isn’t bruising there too) don’t hurt nearly as much as my poor wrists. So, what did I learn about myself? My right leg and arm do not like to move without each other… (kick then punch sometimes ended up being kick and punch, oops!). Slow motion is not for me. Matrix, on the other hand, is something I can do.

It was a crazy awesome work out, which was half the attraction. There was lots of laughing, lots of pain, some apologizing, and I met people. I was really good at some moves, and need practice at others. Overall it was a good time investment of an entire evening. I really hope I can get a schedule with my Thursdays off so I can continue this. And now if you will excuse me, I’m off to the shower, and find some ice…

A Health Tip

Last week I was on a trip to FL for business. All of the stairwells in the the building I was staying in were one-way. You could get into the stairwell from any floor, but then all the doors going into the building were locked except for the first floor so you could use the stairwell to get out. This led to a lot of elevator time, where I noticed the state elevator registration form had a nifty watermark that said:

BE HEALTHY: Use the stairs!

Lock up your daughters

I had to get a new ID card today since I cracked my old one. I’ve had some bad pictures before, but this one makes me look like I’m a child molester. I was asked if my name was “Chester.” :(

But ‘Green’ is good, right?

If it says ‘green’ somewhere, the product is automagically good is the lesson that has been learned thanks to years of whining. Which leads us to this awesome situation:

The SmartJack Oil Pump is supposed to be 30% smaller than regular see-saw beam pumps, and the unit produces about 50% less emissions. But it’s pumping out oil from the bowels of the earth!

Poor little hippies, being more energy efficient at pulling out the most energy efficient fuel we know is making their heads explode. Not only does the Wired author cry the whole time about oil, he manages to get snarky about nuclear power at the end. If he’s so big on being without energy, why is he writing for a technology web site.

Job hunting

Forget my current job, I want to work on this project.

The Reynard project will begin by profiling online gaming behavior, then potentially move on to its ultimate goal of “automatically detecting suspicious behavior and actions in the virtual world.”

Money qoute from the comment section:

Maybe they can start by data-mining Barrens chat.

Or the /trade channel. Would the ERP people get picked up for solicitation?
