Ups and downs

So the new theme is in progress. I have a new picture coming for Naye since she uses IE, and IE apparently hates .png files. A little push down on the Recent Comments box is coming as well. Overall, I think I am happy with the theme. I just to finalize some details, like what is in the sidebar and how comments are displayed and then I’ll release it.

Meanwhile, my stupid laptop is having a lot of issues. I think it is due to Intervideo’s WinDVD 6.0 since I am getting the BSoD with “IRQL_Conflict.” The only time I ever have a crash is when the stupid media manager is running, so if I can get it to boot past agp440.sys, it’s getting uninstalled ASAP.

On the good side, I got a metric asston of WoW this weekend. I took yesterday off, and snuck into the MC raid with Majer. I have pictures of my lag, but overall it was a nonfactor as I went through Sulfuron Harbringer onwards. No happy loots for him though. Immediately afterwards, Elizabet MTed Scholo and did the whole thing except for Jandice. No

Being the genius that I am, I promptly forgot to grab the 6th Voodoo Feather that I needed for the Visor quest, and the Blizzard “Reset all instances” thingie didn’t work when we tried to duck back in quickly. :( All of this was with lagtimes in the 1 to 1.6 seconds with occasional spikes to 3+. Playing with less than 1s when I get home will make me feel like f’n Superman. :D

Site update

It’s coming. Let’s just say that on the face of it, the Wordpress template system is easy to use. Once you get into the guts of doing a theme though…

Add to that the fact that I don’t actually have access to my webserver but three times a week, and the testing goes very very slow. Not to mention the WoWing, but those three times can be busy as well. ;) I have the basics down for the site, now I need to convert it to use The Loop instead of static content that I plugged in to test and version 0.1 is ready to roll.

It really doesn’t help that somewhere along the line, I lost about a week’s worth of work on my 1.5 WP theme. That was a spiffy one that somehow fell victim to my 1337 backup skillz combined with my incomparable tw34king skillz to vanish into the electronic mists.

I am shooting for full-on gravatar support, so if you don’t have one you should get one. Other than that… I think tomorrow night my time we should see it up for the first time. crosses fingers

Trying not to be geeky…

Don’t be geeky, don’t be geeky, don’t be geeky! Damn… So, how big is the USS Enterprise NCC-1701 D? Yes, 643 meters, I know. But how big is it really, saaaay, in comparison to a Star Destroyer? Or, hell, the Hindenberg? I know, I know, thats something that keeps you all up at night, tossing and turning. Well, no more! Muuuhahahahahaaa!!! Yeah, I know… What a geek.

Here’s a little something for you, uruloki. Who needs pr0n anyway?

Otter speaks

Otter is currently working as a planner for various important people’s trips. The problem that she keeps running into is that the people that work for the VIPs also think they are important. Here’s one of our conversations about them:

Me: How’s your morning going? Her: I am having an annoyed morning. There is this one person I can stand working with on this one visit and he’s the stateside POC and he’s a retired COL, current butthole.

She’s mine folks! :)

Of course, sometimes it gets turned my direction. One morning, we were having breakfast and the conversation went something like this:

Her: Your choices are Fruit Loops, Coco Krispies, and Coco Puffs. Me: Corn Pops please. Her: That’s not a choice. Me: Ummmm, what? I picked up one Corn Pops and one Coco Krispies last time. Her: I ate the Corn Pops. Me: WTF? You told me to “get one for you and one for me.” I don’t eat Coco Krispies, therefore logically the Corn Pops are for me! Her: I ate the Corn Pops. Me: Wait a minute! There should be another Corn Pops since the time before that I got them for me and Coco Puffs for you. Her: Yes, you did. Me: Damnit.

I ate the Fruit Loops :(

Jayd’s love life, or lack there of…

won’t be around, I have a pity date and then a family thing.

Well, the family thing I was referring to was spending time with Loki on FM, which I got to do! :) I accomplished a lot imo, finished cleaning out his bags and rearranging them to my likes. ;) However, just when I had finished, he LDed and didn’t get back on. :( His latency had been bad all day apparently, so no instancing with him. :(
There was still instancing though! I thoroughly confused Swee by not actually being Majer. >.> I love Scholo! I was practicing my mage-aggro. I’m quite pleased with myself actually. I only stole aggro once, and that was on a construct that didn’t even make it to me before someone else stole it from me! :D

NEway, so that was my family thing. ;) After Scholo, I looked up the times for my movie, and planned accordingly. This, in essence, means I washed the dishes and then did Calculus homework/studying from 7ish to 10.

Circa 10 I stopped with the calculating and dressed myself appropriately for a movie (No description available), and headed out to see Pirates of the Caribbean! Yay!

The movie was good, I really enjoyed myself. I suppose, had someone of the opposite sex been with me they might have enjoyed themselves as well. :) As it was, the movie started at 10:45 and ended at 1:25. I walked out, and noticed, I was the only person there not with someone. I don’t mean “almost,” I mean, “the only” person there alone. I nearly died laughing as I walked out to the car, I thought it was pretty funny. :)

I got to the car, and in, with no mishaps, and no kidnappings. :) As I was driving out of the parking lot I realized my tuner was on a country station. Now, I am not a country fan. Kudos to you if you are! But I am not. _ The song that was playing was something about not being that lonely/desperate yet. (Tried looking it up today… but I can’t remember the major refrain and Reba is not a dude… so it’s not “I’m not that Lonely yet) Needless to say I was more than amused and left it there until the end of the song.

It was nearing the end of raid time, although on Sat. Ari will take as much time as she damn well pleases, we’ve gone to 4am before… which is 11 hours of raiding… Ari is an ftard. NEway, usual raid time is still 2am my time. So I figured they would all still be on so I could get on TS and say g’night. I got home an apparently they had finished up at 1. Dis stayed up waiting for me to get home. :)

That was about the sweetest thing EVAR. :) Definitely worth going all by myself, although it would have been much enhanced by his actual presence… I will make due with what I have. :) His concern for my safety was very touching. And that is proly why he is my best friend. :)

It was a long hard slog

I persevered through lag and odd playtimes and no groups to accomplish my goal: Elizabet is 60.

Ok, that doesn’t really mean shit since I could have had her at 60 about three weeks ago. Or the fact that it’s number 4 to cap out. And woopie for me, accomplishing something 5 million other people have. WTFE. At least I got to equip

Oh yeah, I have a site redesign in progress. (Which means, in typical fashion, I have this gorgeous vision in my head without the fscking l33t skilz to get out in code.) All seven of ya can look for it next week. (Edit: stupid white items on a white background :( )

Critical thinking

You are traveling in a car at a constant speed. On your left side is a double decker bus and on your right side is a fire engine traveling at the same speed as you.

In front of you is a galloping pig which is the same size as your car and you cannot overtake it. Behind you is a helicopter flying at ground level. Both the giant pig and the hellicopter are also traveling at the same speed as you.

What must you do to safely get out of this highly dangerous situation?

The Five Word Review II

Doom: Where’s the motherfscking demons, yo?

Easy cash

The easiest money in the world to get is that from the US government. In keeping with that, the USAF just issued a half-million dollar contract… to read blogs:

Dr. Brian E. Ulicny, senior scientist, and Dr. Mieczyslaw M. Kokar, president, Versatile Information Systems Inc., Framingham, Mass., will receive approximately $450,000 in funding for the 3-year project entitled “Automated Ontologically-Based Link Analysis of International Web Logs for the Timely Discovery of Relevant and Credible Information.

Translation: We look at a bunch of hyperlinks to see what the current fads are. The cough scientists also seem to be more along the lines of the MSM in attributing superpowers to bloggers:

A good example, he said, is the recent furor in the Muslim world over the publication of cartoons of Mohammad in a Danish newspaper. The original publication wasn’t much noticed in the West, but bloggers discussed this event that possibly contributed to riots worldwide.

The thing that led to riots worldwide was a conscious propaganda effort on the part of Muslims, complete with forged cartoons. Blogs didn’t have anything to do with that…
