HOLY CRAP

I’m sitting here coding next to Otter (sleepy-head’s on the couch), and SportsCenter leads off with the tag:

The Commander-in-Chief Trophy has been stolen.

WTFMF. I don’t even know what to say. Updates as I find them and/or see the story on SportsCenter.

Update: It looks like it was found in a closet. The SportsCenter story quotes a note which make it look like a spirit mission by Army cadets prior to the game on Saturday. A local story explicitly calls it that.

Sorry for the hysterics, all I am saying is that if Air Force wasn’t such a shitty team the last two years and it was in our possession, this wouldn’t have happened.

Here we go again…

This is the dev tracking post, so ignore the list if you want.

To Do:

  • Make an IE specific CSS(link) (Cascading Style Sheets) file. I just viewed the site in IE, and damn is it borked. (FWIW, I use PortableFirefox 1.5RC3 at work and Firefox 1.0.7 at home.)
  • New borders for About and Calendar boxes. – I know what I want to do (use the boxes from Hogit’s theme), I just need to do it.

  • Implement “Blockquote” class so that all my quotes can look nice and pretty.

  • Implement buttons for the pages. Options:

    • Do something like the buttons at the top of worldofwarcraft.com for the Account, Server Status, etc.

    • Use button from Hogit’s theme.

  • Add a server status area to the sidebar. – Find RSS feed or something? Frostbolt.com I think has one, but he’s down due to bandwidth issues.

  • Improve readability for the site. This includes different font colorings, especially on the sidebar.

  • Take the format for the “widget” class and move it to the post title area (part of improved readability) and implement a new widget layout.

  • Fix the options page in WP-Admin to reflect my changes to Regulus.

  • Package theme for use on other websites.

  • Add server status to the sidebar – Use this.

Done:

  • Custom header (2.5 hours of work, biggest part of project so far)

  • Custom footer

  • Change background

  • Change content background

  • Modify “wrapper” div

  • Plugins integrated:

  • Fixed link list/blog roll output in sidebar

  • Added Gravatars to comments

  • Fully implement an Asides category. – I put the Asides tweaks from Coldforged into part operation. Issues that I have include not being able have a post in categories in addition to “Asides” and not having the damn things show up on the front page. Well, that second one can wait until I create some CSS(link) to properly display them. Progess report: Final fix for this needs to wait until I can get home and log into mySQL to run some code. Almost done! Used the WP Codex to add Asides (Photomatt’s original implemenation). Time: 3hrs

  • Integrate images for each author (This is for Naye, and therefore the #1 thing on the list). – I’ll use this plugin, we’ll see how long it takes me. ;) I used the CSS(link) from here and the WP code from here (modified of course). Total time: 40 min.

  • Make it so that if there is an excerpt, it only shows that, else it just uses the content (This one’s for Jayd). – Lots of plugins for this, dunno which one I will use. And the answer is: scriptygoddess to the rescue.

Foray into the Non-Bubble Dating Pool Pt. 1

I joined a fraternity. :-D A business fraternity, it’s co-ed fyi, so don’t get your boxers in a bind our your panties in a twist. From the first informational meeting I have sat next to, or rather he has sat next to me, one of my frat brothers who is a tad random. In any case, he has been very nice on occasion. He has picked me up for one of our bowling nights, which I appreciated very much, and even consented to pay for dinner after bowling. Dinner went ‘til closing time at Applebee’s. Fascinating.

Well, one night as he was driving me to work after Pledge class, he suddenly asked me where I was taking him on Saturday… ! Naturally, I responded with ” depends on where you want to go and how much you are willing to spend.” I agreed to a Saturday ‘date’ beginning after 9 and pending he chooses the restaurant (not bar, restaurant. Ooooo I am so demanding!).

Saturday rolls around and I have let the guild know I won’t be around for Black Wing Lair… b/c I have a ‘date.’ I go to work at 2pm on Saturday and work until 8pm. At 7:30 I get a text message, his favorite way to communicate apparently. It says: “hey something came up and I am going to have to take a rain check…” ! Hahahahaha, I am dying of laughter at the circulation desk in the library, trying to be quiet. I somewhat succeeded, I have amazing self-control sometimes. :)

Well… what am I gonna do on Saturday night? Meh, I ran home really fast and managed to get 3 boss role calls. Point! That made me happy. And really, I was actually glad he cancelled, I like WoW, and I got in TONS of PvP AB action that night. It was worth the stand up. Promise.

The next day, Sunday, is our National Exam for entrance into AKPsi. He texts me, early (what was he thinking?), in a tizzy about studying and suggest something I won’t repeat. Mostly b/c I was confused and didn’t understand it until later. shock and horror Go figure. Sometimes the innuendo goes right over my head. NEways, he picks me up for the exam (by this time I have no scruples about accepting rides, heck, it was cold and I was not going to drive. heh). :) We get there, take our exam and he takes me home. No biggie. :)

Minor side note, I rocked that exam, I had no worries. I got my acceptance letter the next day. Honor court (aka initiation) was to be the next Sunday. :)

Part 2 to come…

World’s smallest violin

Looks like Pete Rose is SOL on that HoF deal… Couldn’t happen to a nicer cheatguy.

Broken, again

Sometimes I think that the only thing that I can do consistently with computers is break them. Right now I am running a backup of my computer (writing on Otter’s) onto a USB hardrive. So, not only do I have to deal with the gimp processor (getting <1GHz out of a 2.4GHz chip), I have to deal with the agonizingly slow tranfers of GBs of porn and musicvital personal documents and old projects.

It is at the point I am considering a Mac for my next computer purchase. shudder

The Intarweb makes me a badass

What a way to make up for a week of no posting: another intarweb personality quiz. Fortunately for my own ego, I polled quite well:

Somewhere else to go

This article on griefing in EVE, makes me almost want to give EVE a try for a break from WoW.

Small note because I’m lazy

A good walkthrough for getting attuned to MC is missing a couple of details.

Another random quiz

I’m so thankful for the Internet, it makes all kinds of worthless personality quizzes viable! That said, read on for who I’d be if I was an Action Hero. [Read more →]

Counting on other people to have a sense of humor is a very dangerous business.
