After much doubting, it it appears that Blizzard has done something about the farmers.

Over the recent weeks we have been investigating the activities of certain individuals who have been farming gold in order to sell it in exchange for real world currency. After researching the situation, we have issued permanent suspensions to over one thousand accounts that have been engaging in this practice. We do not condone such actions and will take decisive action as they are against our policy and damage the game economy as a whole. We will continue researching this matter. One of the things about being in a gov’t position is the mandatory briefings that you have sit through. Currently covering some stuff about counterintelligence, and one of the flags that they say could highlight you as a potential resources is talking about how “you hate the IRS.” Color me a potential!! That’s the most asinine thing I’ve ever heard, I don’t know anyone beyond politicians and IRS agents themselves that don’t hate the IRS. Seriously, I don’t think they like it, they just don’t dislike it enough to hate it.

No, Evil didn’t finally grow tired of me and try to take me out. Been busier wrapping up the thesis and outprocessing than I was writing and defending the damn thing. My current state of mind makes this game very familiar to me. I don’t even have to walk the 73m to pass out that I make that guy do…

Reality continues to be insane, with government sticking its nose into more shit. (Here’s a hint for you wastes of taxpayer dollars in DC: the House Government Reform Committee should probably try to figure why you’re wasting billions of dollars every year instead of looking into baseball’s buisiness. Oh wait, question answered…) It looks like the war is a complete failure, too. Sure validates the GD hippies views…

Meanwhile, in WoWland, all kinds of things are going on. Like more “hints” about PVP, ginourmous patches, and WoW getting even bigger. SOE says, “look no content, cool factor, or even spells, but no queues either!” Blizzard does have their eye on game-breaking suggestions.

Sony just released “why play us article” that take implicit potshots at WoW.

EverQuest II continues to grow at an amazing rate, not just in the number of players that have fallen in love with the game’s rich, entertaining content, but also in the physical size of the world. We’ve got over 325,000 people logging in to our servers every week, with no delays or wait times and the game they are playing is only getting better.

Nice. So what you’re saying is, that since you have maybe a quarter the subscription numbers, you don’t have the queues that WoW does. Cool!! But, errr, who am I going to play with then? Thanks, I’ll take the (sometimes) queues to play on “Hgh” population servers that have more people than yours do combined, or go play on “Low” population servers that, again, have higher player counts than yours do.

And lets look at the “Ton of Content added since launch.” Why in God’s name did you have to release over 400 spells in patches after the game is “released”?

Bah, don’t even care anymore about this, not touching EQ2 anyways.

Otter is home, I’ve submitted the paper, and the presentation is ready for tomorrow. It could be a good week, we’ll just have to see what happens during the presentation. In the meantime, here’s my thesis. (Ok, so you have to replace the subject with references to Genetic Algorithms and weapon deliveries, but the general thrust is the same.)
