EU starts work now, will be finished in 2100

Trying to keep up, the wEUnies across the pond are desperately trying to get quantum cryptography up and running so that our Echelon project doesn’t eat them alive:

If successful, the project will produce the cryptographer’s holy grail—absolutely unbreakable code—and thwart the eavesdropping efforts of espionage systems such as Echelon, which intercepts electronic messages on behalf of the intelligence services of the U.S., Britain, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.

Fortunately for us, if they are as good as that as they are at doing space travel, they’ll be at the same spot as us in 20 years. My prediction is that we get the quantum cryptography first, and end up releasing into the public domain long before their committees determine whether to use French or English terms.
