Anti-smokers: dumber than smokers?

LOL, does anyone else really hate those “truth” commercials? I just saw the one where they snag 1200 people and gather them outside a tobacco company’s building and they all play dead while one idiot stands there with a sign that reads “Tobacco kills 1200 people every day.” Only in the U.S.A can the government force a company to fund TV ads that attack its own products. First off, those people that smoke make a conscious decision to smoke and to continue smoking in the face of surgeon general’s warnings and health problems. Then, the government that is supposed to be using these funds to take care of the health costs directly related to tobacco take the money and use it to fund their own pet projets. Of course, since no one is willing to take responsibility for their own actions, we end up in this situation, where they sue not only tobacco companies, but fast food joints. Hello? Anyone? You really believed that fast food and cigarettes were healthy for you? Must be a product of our wonderful public school system. At least someone else realizes how stupid the ‘truth’ commercials are. Others are here, here, and here. At some point, the government will step in to reverse the discrimination against tobacco companies since tobacco products are such a HUGE source of state and local revenues (case in point: New York). Of course, the black market is already acting to skirt the tax issue, even to the point of being a major source of funding for terrorists. Thanks for all the hard work, anti-smokers.
