I’ll ride this elevator
From last week’s news: it looks like a science fiction staple, the space elevator, is undergoing some serious planning and is looking for money. The interesting thing for me is that Slashdot doesn’t have a story on it, maybe I’m not looking in the right place? If it works, this would help move humans off this mudball we call Earth and prove a huge step towards making the rest of the Solar System mine (I mean, mankind’s….).
Edit: Once again, I have proven my stupidity. Slashdot does have some stuff on the space elevators, they just haven’t linked in the latest stories. Maybe no one is contributing? The odd thing is that I found the links when I searched “elevator,” but not “space elevator.” I wonder what the algorithm is based on, maybe first word weighting?
